2002 XC Outlook:
After running the most successful UCSB individual cross country campaign last year, expect Katie Appenrodt to provide senior leadership as a powerful front runner.
2002 Track Recap:
Took down the school record in both the 5k and 10k
with NCAA provisional marks. Took second in the conference 1500m event
and first in the 5k.
2001 XC Recap:
The team captain and MVP completed the most successful individual cross country season in UCSB history… Became the first Gaucho to win the Big West Conference race as well as qualify for the NCAA meet… Earned All-Western Region Honors with a 10th place finish at the district championship... Undefeated by Big West competition during her entire season.
Coach's Notes: One of the most improved athletes on the team earned all-conference honors by placing 2nd in the 1500m Big West Championships, as well as 2nd in the Cal/Nevada 5,000m. Logged personal bests in the 1500m and 5,000m, currently ranking 3rd and 4th respectively on UCSB's top-ten all time list.
High School: Came to UCSB highly recruited from St. Ignatius HS with prep PR’s of 4:38.70 (1500) and 10:40 (3200)…
