SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team defeated Northern Arizona 5-2 in Phoenix Saturday at the Paseo Racquet Club. The Gauchos captured the doubles point after wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. UCSB finished the victory, winning four of six singles matches.
No. 78 ranked Uzma Khan won her four consecutive match at No. 1 singles, defeating NAU's Kristen Balk 6-2, 6-1. Marielle Gruenig also won at No. 2 singles with a victory over Marjolein Klompmaker 6-2, 7-6. Khan and Gruenig won their No. 1 doubles match 8-5.
The Gauchos host Cal State Fullerton Friday at 1:30 pm, San Jose State Saturday at 10:00 am and Santa Clara Sunday at 10:00 am.
