The UC Santa Barbara men's and women's swim team both remained in second place behind Pacific at the conclusion of the second day of competition at the Big West Conference Championship Meet on Thursday.

UCSB started the evening off with both the men's and women's teams breaking school records in the 200 medley relay. The men's team of Pat Ota, Derek Ogata, Ben Fisher, and Scott Baer set the new mark of 1:30.87 on their way to ending Pacific's 20-win relay-streak at the Big West Conference Championship Meet dating back to the 2000. The women's team of Dalonzo, Cook, Haesler, and King bettered the previous mark set at the 2002 conference meet in a time of 1:43.29.

The Gaucho women were led by Lindsay Dalonzo, Julia King and Jennifer Cook. Lindsay Dalonzo and Julia King finished first and second in the 100 backstroke with times of 54.60 and 55.81 respectively. Jennifer Cook finished second in the 100 breaststroke on her way to breaking the eight year old school record in a time of 1:04.30.

Gaucho men had a great showing on the second night of finals competition. The evening started off with Eric Koch's third consecutive conference championship in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 9:18.80. In the next event, UCSB received a one-two finish in the 400 individual medley from Shaun Crossman and Matt Wheeler (3:57.36)(3:58.38). Ota and TK Erwin provided another one-two punch in the 100 backstroke finishing in times of 50.47 and 50.54 respectively.
