Long Beach, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's and women's swim team are both in second place behind Pacific at the conclusion of the first day of competition at the Big West Conference Championship Meet on Wednesday.
Lindsay Dalonzo broke the Big West Conference Meet record in the 100 backstroke while leading off the 400 medley relay. Dalonzo's time of 54.41, bettered her previous UCSB school record and qualified her for the NCAA Championships held next month in Auburn, Alabama.
The 400 medley relay team of Dalonzo, Cook, Netzley, and King shattered the school record by two seconds with a time of 3:46.82. The previous school record was set last year, at the Big West Conference Meet.
Julia King recorded her first conference victory in the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 23.41 and led off the runner-up 200 freestyle relay.
Gauchos men were led by junior Eric Koch and freshman Garrett Porteous in the 500 freestyle, who finished second and third respectively.
