Santa Barbara, Calif.- UC Santa Barbara fell to defending Big West Conference Champions Pacific in dual meet action Friday 89-173 at campus pool.
The Gauchos only trailed 29 points mid way through the meet, when the Tigers turned up the heat to finish the meet 84 points ahead of UCSB.
The Tigers where paced by senior Kristy Mathews three victories on the afternoon. Mathews took first in both of the breaststroke (1:06.02)(2:18.06) events and collected her third victory in the 200 Individual Medley (2:05.62). Other top performers for Pacific included Laura McDonald who recorded two victories in the 500 and 1000 free (5:01.95)(10:09.11) and Shannon Catalono who also added two victories in the 100 and 200 butterfly (55.68)(2:04.85).
The Gauchos were led by the individual performances of Lindsay Dalonzo and Julia King. Dalonzo recorded two victories on the afternoon in the 100 and 200 backstroke (56.87)(2:02.54). King added her own individual victory in the 50 free (23.99) and was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay which had not beaten Pacific in two seasons.
