UCSB
Finished fourth in the 500 freestyle and sixth in both the 1000 and 1650 freestyles at the 2003 Big West Championships...Team co-captain last season...Took third in the 500 Free at the 2002 Big West Championships... Finished fourth in both the 1000 and 1650 freestyle...Was also a member of the runner up 800 free relay...Swam the second fastest times in the 500 and 1000 freestyle for the Gauchos in the 2001-2002 season...At the 2001 Big West Championships, was champion in the 1000 free, second in the 500 free and third in the 1650 free...Was voted the Gauchos most improved swimmer in 2001...Received the Soroptimist International Female Athlete Award in March 2002.
High School
All-League, All-Metro, and League MVP at Oak Ridge High School... Owns schoolrecords in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyle...League champions all four years at Oak Ridge...Swam club for Sierra Marlins...Also participated in volleyball and basketball.

Born December 25, 1981...Parents are Greg Barnett and Peggy O'Connell...Her sister Megan who is a freshman on the UCSB swim team...Majoring in law and society...Hobbies include surfing, riding her road bike, and lifeguard competitions...Favorite athletes are Jenny Thompson, Summer Sanders and Tiger Woods...Would like to attend law school after graduating.
