Another Tourney Title As Softball Ties For The Crown At The Cal Poly Mustang Round-Up

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - With its 2-0 shutout victory over Colorado State, the UC Santa Barbara softball team claimed a share of the Cal Poly Mustang Round-Up title. Both the Gauchos and Sacramento State closed out the weekend with a 4-1 tournament record.

Tourney Notes:
* UCSB recorded its third, fourth and fifth shutouts of the season through ten games.

* The Gauchos improve to 9-1 on the young season, with its lone loss coming at the hands of Sacramento State.

* Senior pitcher Loren Thornburg's 15 strikeouts against Southern Utah established a new career high, she tied her previous career high of 12 K's last week against UIC.

* UCSB's offensive onslaught of 14 runs in its mercy victory over the University of San Diego was just two runs short of tying the Gauchos' record for most runs in a game.

* Thornburg posted two more shutouts to give her four shutouts in five starts, she is now 4-1 on the year.

* Senior thirdbaseman Chantal Pershing was once again on fire, going 8-20 at the plate with six runs scored and six stolen bases.

* Freshman pitcher Carly Harmon is now 4-0 in her collegiate career.
