SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
The UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team scored two goals in the first 1:54 of its home match against Xavier on Sunday and cruised to a fourth straight win, 4-0.
The Gauchos needed just over 30 seconds to get on the board first. Freshman midfielder Allie Kueny hit junior forward Randi Johns with a pass as Johns streaked up the right sideline. Johns, who scored the game-winning goal in Friday night's emotional overtime victory over Oregon State, hit a long cross to senior forward Alma Martinez. Martinez tucked the ball just inside the left post at the 0:35 mark, giving UCSB the 1-0 advantage.
Santa Barbara didn't waste any time doubling its lead. At 1:54, junior midfielder Krystal Sandza took a feed from junior forward Jennifer Borcich and drilled home her team-leading fifth goal of the season, giving the Gauchos a 2-0 advantage.
The Gauchos and Musketeers remained scoreless the remainder of the first half and through the firt 21 minutes of the second half. At 66:42 Martinez took the ball on the upper-lefthand corner of the penalty box and launched a pass to Sandza at the far post. Sandza shoved the ball past Xavier goalkeeper Andrea Garber for her sixth goal of the season, giving UCSB a 3-0 lead.
The Gauchos scored the final goal of the match at the 83:42 mark when senior forward Alex Richey, who was injured much of last season, scored her first goal since the 2001 season, putting home a rebound of a Borcich miss.
For the match, UCSB outshot Xavier by a 24-8 count. Garber produced six saves for the Musketeers and sophomore Jamie Considine, who played the first 81:30 of the match, came-up with four saves for the Gauchos.

The win improves Santa Barbara's record to 5-2-1 and it extends its winning streak to four games in a row. In the four successive wins, UCSB has outscored its oppositions by a 14-2 count. Dating to last season, the Gauchos have now won seven consecutive games at Harder Stadium. Xavier drops to 3-3-1 on the year.
UCSB will open the Big West Conference season next weekend. The Gauchos hos Cal State Fullerton on Friday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Harder Stadium. On Sunday, September 28, they will host the University of San Diego, also at 7:00 p.m.
