Junior Brian Alexander scored seven more times in two matches as the UC Santa Barbara men's water polo team finished-up a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Inland Empire Classic with a 12-7 win over La Verne University and a 17-3 blowout over Whittier.
Alexander scored four goals in the day's first match, the win over La Verne and he followed that up with a three-goal performance in the win over Whittier. Combined with his seven-goal performance on Saturday, Alexander finished the four matches with 14 goals, a team-high, and he now paces the squad with 20 on the year.
Alexander was not the only Gaucho player to get into the act. In the win over La Verne, the Gauchos also received a pair of goals from Doug Arthur and Matt Dale, as well as one apiece from four other players. In the victory over Whittier, Ramiro Saldain paced the way with four scores. Arthur and Steve Traverso each added two.
The wins helped UCSB earn the championship at the Inland Empire Classic with a perfect 4-0 mark.
UCSB is now 6-2 on the season as they prepare to play in the Southern California Tournament next weekend at UC Irvine.
