UCSB rallies a win against UC Santa Cruz after three games match.
Santa Barbara, Calif.- Jake Wiens had 10 kills and hit .350 to lead UC Santa Barbara's men volleyball team to 30-22, 30-25, 30-23 win over UC Santa Cruz Saturday night.
The Gauchos, now 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, hit. 357 as a team. Outside hitter Alejandro Parra aided with nine kills, four blocks total, four digs and four service aces. Michael Kennedy had seven kills, Jared Godinez also contributed with six kills along with Mike Nelson and Adam Ulfers with four kills each. Setter Bryan Berman and Bart Kowalski had 27 assists and 8 assists respectively. Libero Andrew Wilson had 5 digs.
Santa Cruz's outside hitter Jason Daniel had a match-high 12 kills and hit .304 overall. The Banana slugs also recieved major contributions from Dane Gilliam, Alex Minneboo, and Sam Fullerton with six, five and four kills correspondingly. Setter Matt Reynolds had 28 assists setting .438 overall for the match.
UCSB is ranked eight in the national rankings will face USC on Friday, February 13, at 7:00 pm in Rob Gym.
