FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Anders Bengtsson and Nate Wack each had 13 kills to lead four players in double-figures, as the UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team defeated Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne, 30-27, 30-26, 21-30, 26-30 and 15-13.
In addition to Bengtsson and Wack, Michael Kennedy had 12 kills and Justin Adams, playng opposite for the first time in his career, added 11.
Although the Gauchos were playing without Jan Carlo Zegarra, who has a stress fracture in his leg, they were able to improve to 2-3 on the season. UCSB was outhit as a team, .295 to .211.
Santa Barbara will remain in Indiana for a rematch with the Mastadons on Sunday afternoon.
