Senior Cheyne Murray had a seasonal best, improving his regional qualifying mark in the discus to 170' 10", on Friday at Pomona, just one of several highlights on the day for Gaucho throwers. Ryan Lockner, a sophomore transfer from Santa Barbara CC, threw a lifetime best 51' 0" in the shot put, just three inches off the UCSB top ten list and the best mark in the event by a Gaucho in the last 15 years. Eugene Bradley improved his Big West qualifier in the hammer to 162' 7", Richie Alpers threw a season best 150' 0" and Tyler Smith had a lifetime best 149' 11".
All three Gaucho women hammer throwers logged PR's led by Heather Quinn's throw of 142 10" (#5 All-time UCSB), Amy Haapanen (137' 4"- #6 All-time UCSB), and Meagan Valdes (124' 10" - #9 All-time UCSB).
Junior Mark Martello had the ninth best pole vault in Gaucho history, clearing 15' 9", a nine inch PR in the event and just three inches shy of the NCAA Regional mark. Freshman Ryan Donnelly leaped a team leading and personal best 23' 5.5" in the long jump. Other field event highlights included Deborah Samson clearing 12' 5.5" in the pole vault and Rachael Elbinger hitting a season best in the triple jump of 35' 4.5".
On the track for the Gaucho women, freshman Lauren Christman won her heat of the 800m in 2:13.23, moving up to #7 All-time UCSB. Diana Quinones
also won her heat of the 800m a lifetime best 2:19.29. Liz Mallon won her heat of the 1500m in a Big West qualifying 4:44.36, personal bests in the same
race were also recorded by Stephanie Rothstein (4:45.88) and Lindsay Christman (4:46.33). Laura Zung won her heat of the 3000m steeplechase in a
conference qualifying 11:39.10. Tashaurie Rogers' 58.43 clocking at 400m, was good for another Gaucho heat winner, while Ashley Lazarus (59.51) and
Kylie McCuen (59.86) both had season bests at 400m.

Personal bests on the track for the men included Harrison Osuorji (11.27) and Isaac Herrera (11.37) in the 100m, Ryan McGinnis at 800m (1:55.93) and Alex Cardiasmenos at 1500m (4:02.57).
