SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team swept Cal Poly 7-0 Wednesday in Big West Conference tennis action at UCSB's RecCen Courts. The Gauchos won all three doubles matches to win the doubles point before sweeping all six singles matches.
UCSB was led by Carlos Palencia who both his matches at No. 1 singles and doubles. Palencia defeated Cal Poly's Meronoff 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and paired with Mirco Schwindt to defeat Van Linge and Jones 9-8 at No. 1 doubles.
UCSB has one Big West dual match remaining on their schedule when they host UC Riverside Apr. 13. The Gauchos have four dual matches left this season before traveling to Danville, Calif. for the 2003 Big West Tennis Championships April 25-27.
The Gauchos are now 9-8 overall and 2-1 in the Big West Conference.
