SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team lost to No. 52 ranked Virginia today in non-conference action at UCSB's RecCen Courts. The Gauchos started off the day well by winning the doubles point with wins at the No 2 and 3 doubles spots. Virginia captured all six singles matches for the win.
No. 92 ranked Carlos Palencia played a tough match at No. 1 singles, losing to UVA's Doug Stewart 6-7, 7-6 (8). UCSB's Nicholas Brotman took Virginia's Stephen Rozek to three sets at No. 5 singles, losing 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The Gauchos fall to 5-5 on the season. Virginia improves to 11-2.
UCSB returns to Big West Conference action Saturday when they host No. 74 ranked UC Irvine. The match begins at 1:30 at the RecCen Courts.
