EUGENE, Ore. - The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team edged Portland 4-3 Saturday in Eugene. The Gauchos lost the doubles point but won four of the six singles matches, including No. 1-3. No. 55 ranked Carlos Palencia defeated UP's Peter Malacek 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. No. 121 ranked Mirco Schwindt won at No. 2 singles, defeating Roman Borvanov 6-4, 6-0. Rounding out the top three singles matches was Alex Anselme's win over Ram Hernandez 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
The Gauchos (5-3) meet Oregon Sunday.
