LAS VEGAS- The UC Santa Barbara women's swimming team defeated Northern Arizona 195-103 and tied University of Las Vegas, Nevada in a non conference meet Saturday. The UC Santa Barbara men's team dropped a loss to UNLV 137-125.
The Gaucho men's and women's teams opened up the meet with season bests in the 200 medley relay, but was not enough to win either race.
The Gaucho men went 1-2-3 in the 1000 freestyle, led by junior Eric Koch in a time of 9:27.65. Junior Matt Schubert and freshman Garrett Porteous placed second and third in the 1000 freestyle with times of 9:44.67 and 9:46.88 respectively.
Senior Anders Nelson took first in the 200 freestyle in 1:41.67 and second in the100 freestyle in a time 46.56.
Senior Julia King won the 50 free in 24.16 and the 100 free in 52.12. King anchored the 200 free relay with a split of 22.97.
Sophomore Lindsay Dalonzo won both backstroke events in times of 56.95 and 2:03.52 respectively.
Junior Shaun Crossman won the 400 IM in a time of 4:06.15 and Eric Koch won the 500 free in 4:39.73.
The UC Santa Barbara women's swimming team improves to (6-4-1), while the men dropped their third dual meet in a row to fall to a record of (2-5).
The Gauchos dive back into action against UC Irvine Saturday Feb. 8 at 1:00pm. This will be the Gauchos final dual meet before the Big West Championships Feb. 26-28.
